Lens of Youth creates meaningful programs that connect directly with families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through these programs, our volunteers help share stories that deserve to be heard and understood, advocating on behalf of the IDD community. Using our lens, not only the camera but also compassion and understanding, we capture and preserve precious moments that celebrate their lives, highlight their voices, and build lasting memories for families and the broader community.
Misunderstood Moments
Misunderstood Moments is an awareness program by Lens of Youth. It collects real-life stories of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, each paired with original artwork to help others understand, connect, and build compassion. By experiencing these stories and artworks, participants are encouraged to make their commitment by signing the Misunderstood Moments Pedge, fostering a community of kindness, inclusion, and understanding
We Care, We Capture
Lens of Youth offers FREE graduation photo sessions to LRC II students, capturing the unique spirit of each senior as they reach this important milestone. We believe every student deserves the chance to celebrate and remember this transformative stage, reflecting their achievements and individuality. These photos aren’t just pictures — they’re cherished memories for families and a way to honor each student’s journey and potential.
The Inclusive Circle Partnership
Lens of Youth is proud to support the Inclusive Circle, a group of children with developmental disabilities, as they step into the heart of community life. At the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) event, our collaborative Photo Booth gives them the opportunity to engage, connect, and serve their community. This project celebrates inclusion, empowering these amazing young individuals to share their talents, make memories, and showcase the power of belonging.

Lens of Youth organizes themed events throughout the year, creating opportunities for families supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to come together, socialize, and build connections through arts and music.

Interviews
Lens of Youth engages in interviews with families, capturing their unique journeys in nurturing individuals with developmental disabilities. We also conduct interviews with organizations that provide assistance to these families. Our objective is to share their narratives to increase social awareness and collecting valuable information to assist families in managing their daily challenges.
